Vinted Users Voice Frustration Regarding Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Manual Updates

A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
